The first Jesus was made by Franz M. Jansen (Cologne), nearly 1920. “Alles vergebens” means “all in vain”! Also xylographs are “the holy stations of the cross” by Ewald Malzburg (Neuss). 14 stations from 1920. Made both stories for an exibition (and the cataloge) at the August-Macke House, at Bonn. The exibition will show pictures of Jesus in the changing times of the modernity, and will start at the 28th of May 2009.
Today, I visited my homey Kay, a little bit outside from Düseldorf. It was in the country and everything was colourful. He cooked some Zander, he fished in the Rhine by himself. He is very professional in building “Wobblers”, this simulated bait fish, you need for hunting big predarory fishs from the river. The baith fish has to agitate like a real fish. It has to bluff the big fish. With special moves and little globules inside, for sound under water.
Yesterday, Pepe invited me home to dinner. Fish, rice with nuts, and Niko dressed some fresh salad. We drunk prosecco with mineral water. It was delicious.
In 1961, Otto Klemperer conducted this german production at the Kingsway Hall, London. It was digitaly remastered at the Abbey Road Studios. This version is veeery slow. But one with the best soloists and musicians. And very clear in following the structures of Bachs passion.
This is a second vesion of the passion. Harnoncourt arranged this passion with original instruments and 2 choirs (one is the vienna boy choir). It´s recorded 2000, in a barock church like the St. Thomae in Leipzig. Here was the first release, at the 15th of April 1729. It was a good friday, like today. On the third CD is a full autograph score of the passion. Very emotional and direct.
Good Friday. And nice weather. But….it´s time for the “St. Matthew Passion” of Johann Sebastian Bach. It´s the story of Jesus, how it has been told by the apostle Matthew. It starts with the last supper of Jesus, and ends with his burial. The rhymes by Picander. This is a classical version from 1985. It´s a dutch production from Nikolaus Harnoncourt, very clean.
